During his first term as our State Senator, Ron has worked in a bipartisan manner with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to pass a truly balanced budget, create jobs and pass the largest tax cut in Indiana history. In addition, he has worked to increase education spending and funding to protect Indiana Teachers' retirement funds.
As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, Ron has helped bring more than 3,500 new jobs to our communities with businesses such as Amazon and Jeff Boat. Due to his efforts, Clark and Floyd Counties have the lowest unemployment rate in the seven-county Louisville metro area and have added nearly 700 jobs and retained 200 in just the last six months.
Ron is also a member of the Senate Transportation Committee, where he continues to work diligently on solving our local infrastructure issues including timely completion of the Ohio River bridges.
As a member of the Senate Committee on Health and Provider Services, Ron has used his knowledge and experience as a pharmacist to pass legislation that expands the availability of critical vaccines to Hoosier children and adults; cracks down on prescription drug abuse and a bill that allows physician assistants to perform more duties under the supervision of a licensed physician.
He also serves on the Senate Public Policy Committee and is Chairing a summer study committee on children and adults with developmental disabilities.
